The Board of Trustees conducts its meetings openly and transparently in accordance with the Utah Open and Public Meetings Act. Board meetings provide the public an opportunity to observe the Board’s deliberations and decision-making as it fulfills its governance responsibilities, which relate to institutional oversight, policy, and other duties delegated by the Utah Board of Higher Education (UHBE).

Attending Meetings

Members of the public are welcome to attend Board meetings.

To ensure the Board can conduct its business effectively, meetings are expected to proceed in an orderly and respectful manner.

Observers are asked to:

• Respect the meeting process and agenda.
• Refrain from interrupting presenters or Board deliberations.
• Avoid conduct that disrupts the meeting or prevents others from hearing.
• Follow directions provided by the meeting chair or designated staff.

Individuals whose conduct disrupts the meeting may be asked to leave so that Board business can continue.

Purpose of Board Meetings

Board meetings are intended to allow Trustees to:

• Receive information and reports
• Discuss matters within the Board’s authority
• Consider policy and governance issues
• Take official actions as required

While meetings are open to the public, they are not designed as forums for taking public comment.
